Pancreas is a fish shaped grayish pink organ of 6 inches (15 cm) length, which is located in the back of the abdomen, just behind the stomach.

Pancreas produces pancreatic juices and hormones such as insulin. The pancreatic juice contains digestive-enzymes that help digestion of food in the small intestine. Insulin secreted by the pancreas is playing an important role in the control of blood-glucose level.

Pancreas is a compound gland means it is both exocrine as well as endocrine. As an exocrine, it produces pancreatic juices and as an endocrine, it produces and secretes insulin.
